In the Words of Jeremy Clarkson… We Did a Thing!
Well, in the words of Jeremy Clarkson, we did a thing!
And it's a pretty big thing.
We've released our very first whisky!
Seven years ago, the oats that went into this whisky were growing in a paddock here at Scotts Gap. Today, they're part of something we've been dreaming about for a very long time.
Introducing our Centenary Single-Grain Oat Whisky.
A whisky 100 years in the making
In May 1924, Bert Auld arrived at Scotts Gap, beginning what would become a century of Auld family farming.
So when 2024 rolled around, we knew we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion.
And what better way than with a whisky made from grain grown on the very farm we're celebrating?
Our Centenary Oat Whisky is a limited-edition, individually numbered, boxed release, created to commemorate 100 years of the Auld family farming this little corner of Southland.
From the 2017 harvest
The oats were harvested in 2017, distilled here on the farm and matured in ex-bourbon casks.
While the whisky was quietly maturing, life on the farm carried on.
Seven more harvests. Seven more winters. And a rather extraordinary amount of work getting the distillery to where it is today.
And now, finally, we get to share the result.
Bottled at 44% ABV, our Centenary Oat Whisky is creamy and softly sweet, with orchard fruit, gentle spice and a beautifully velvety texture.
A little piece of Auld history
There's something quite special about knowing that every bottle began with a crop we grew ourselves.
But this release is about more than whisky.
It's a celebration of the people who farmed this land before us, the generations who've kept it going and the hope that there will be Aulds farming here for another hundred years.
We couldn't think of a better way to mark our centenary.
And after all these years, we can finally say it.
We made whisky!
