The Auld family has farmed this land for over 100 years, and today it is home to both our working farm and distillery. This is where we grow the grains behind our whisky, gin and curious spirits, distil them on site, and share the story of what we do.
Our Seed-to-Sip Experience takes you beyond the bottle to explore the grain, the farm and the distillery, before finishing in The Dramery to taste the results for yourself.
Hosted by us here on the farm, it is a relaxed and personal look at what it means to make spirits from the ground up, right here in Southland.

Pull up a seat in The Dramery for a guided whisky or gin tasting and discover our spirits through the grains we grow, how we make them and the stories behind each one.
To follow the story further, our Seed-to-Sip Experiences take you beyond The Dramery and out onto the family farm and into the distillery, tracing the journey from the grain growing in our paddocks through to the spirit in your glass.
For those wanting to spend more time with us, private experiences offer the opportunity to go deeper into the farm, the distillery and the Auld family story covering over 100 years on this land.
However you choose to visit, our experiences are relaxed, personal and hosted here on the farm. What we're growing, making and working on changes with the seasons, so there is often something different to share.

Auld Farm Distillery is tucked away at Scotts Gap in rural Southland, surrounded by the paddocks where we grow the grains for our spirits.
We’re around 50 minutes from Invercargill, 80 minutes from Te Anau and two hours from Queenstown making Auld Farm Distillery an easy addition to a journey through the lower South Island.
Come off the main road for a while and discover a working family farm, distillery and a part of Southland you might otherwise pass by.

Before you visit.
A working farm in Southland.
Auld Farm Distillery is our home as well as a working grain and sheep farm. If your experience takes you beyond The Dramery, you'll be visiting working areas of the farm and distillery, so good walking footwear and clothing suited to the Southland weather are recommended. Closed-toe footwear is required for experiences entering the farm and distillery.
Accessibility.
The Dramery is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet on site. Some areas of our working farm and distillery are not wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility or accessibility requirements, please get in touch before your visit and we'll happily talk through the experience with you.
Families & four-legged visitors.
We're a family-friendly farm and distillery and welcome visitors under 18. Depending on a child's age, some production areas may be excluded, and alcohol is only served to guests aged 18 and over.
Well-behaved owners and their dogs are welcome at The Dramery but cannot enter the working farm or distillery. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome on experiences, although some production areas may be restricted.

THE BOOHAI
Some things are worth leaving better than we found them.
At the northern end of our family farm lies The Boohai - an eight-hectare, spring-fed natural wetland beside Woodlaw Forest, older than the farm itself. It is a part of the farm we have always known, but an ecological survey in 2024 confirmed just how special it is, identifying The Boohai as one of Southland's significant remaining wetlands.
Today, we're working to protect and restore it through fencing, native planting, pest control and the careful enhancement of its natural habitat. Much of that work is being done quietly, season by season, as part of looking after the land we farm and the place our family calls home.
For every visitor experience booked with Auld Farm Distillery, we put $5 directly towards restoration work at The Boohai.
So when you come and experience our place, you're also helping us look after a small part of it for those who come after us.
